Throw mountains into the sea

Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “be taken up and thrown into the sea”, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him

Mark 11:23

If you have ever been seated by a window during a flight, you have surely noticed the astonishing view from that window. These angles and perspectives serve as a good reminder that sometimes, our outlook needs to shift. When the plane is on the ground, everything you see from the window is from a human point of view. Moments later, when you are up in the air, you see the same surroundings from a heavenly perspective. Mountains, which often seem so high that they are unclimbable, appear different when viewed from the perspective that God wants to show us. This broader view reveals more about a situation than what can be seen with the naked eye.

It would be so much easier to accept challenges, take steps in faith, and plan different initiatives at school if we knew from the beginning that everything would work out. It would be like God sending us a confirmation email, assuring us that everything we do matters and that we will overcome that mountain. Unfortunately, the Bible does not promise such an email. However, Jesus talks about how those who believe can throw mountains into the sea. This means that those who have faith can accomplish the impossible. What may seem impossible to us is possible with God.

Sometimes, you might feel like everything you do with your NG group, and the initiatives you take to show Jesus's light to your school, don’t matter. Maybe, it feels like nothing is happening and that change is nowhere to be seen. It might seem as if you are tossing pebbles into the sea rather than moving mountains. But never stop throwing, because when you have thrown enough pebbles, they will become the mountain that Jesus speaks about.

Never stop throwing, because when you have thrown enough pebbles they will become the mountain Jesus speaks about

So, if you find yourself wondering whether the Bible you want to give your friends will even make a difference—give it. It is your pebble. When your prayers feel unanswered—keep praying. Throw your pebbles! When you feel like ending your NG group—hold on. When you find yourself in the midst of a storm, challenge, or dream, keep throwing! And never stop praying with every throw, reminding yourself of His heavenly perspective. You and your NG group can move mountains. Day by day, pebble by pebble.
