Do something - take your faith to action

To do something for Christ can sometimes be easy - when you feel it like a fire is burning inside of you. You feel the longing to reach the unreached, to heal the sick, and make the blind see - you feel excited to be used by God! But then, those days come when it feels rough. To love your neighbors and pray feels extra difficult. When the gibberish at school becomes noticeable. Frankly, sometimes it can be hard to take your faith to action. Maybe because there is an enormous pressure on this tiny act - this specific cinnamon bun MUST lead one of my classmates to Christ this very afternoon.

“He took a step, gave what he had and God took the small initiative and made it big.”

In Luke 9:10-37, we can read a story about when Jesus feeds five thousand people. The apostles have just returned from a mission trip and reported to Jesus about what they have done. They all withdrew themselves to a town called Bethsaida. The word spread and soon a large crowd followed them into the wilderness. Jesus greeted them with love and healed those who needed healing and spoke to them about the kingdom of God. But, a rather large problem accrued. The crowd needed something to eat and there was no food nearby. A boy came forward and offered five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jesus took the food and looked up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the bread. After that the disciples’ handed them out food to the crowd. They all ate and were satisfied and we can read in verse 17 that it was twelve baskets filled with food left untouched.

Jesus fed about five thousand people with only five loaves and two fishes. On top of that, there were twelve baskets of leftovers. This whole miracle started with an unselfish action from a boy. He took a step, gave what he had and God took the small initiative and made it big. He can take a cinnamon bun, a conversation, compliment, and make it an important part of your classmates’ relationship with Jesus.

The size of the initiative doesn’t matter. The seed you plant today could harvest today, next week, or even years from now. The key is to take action with Jesus, then miracles will happen in abundance.
Be the drop that makes ripples on the water.
Take your faith to action.
Do something.
